Is the doctors sonic being used to get the doctor out of tricky situations too often? Should it go back to being used just to open locked doors? I will be discussing all of this in this post... Yes the doctors sonic is being overused: It is being used as a deus ex machina to often which means it is being used to get the doctor out of tricky situations instead of the writers using their brains and thinking of an imaginative way to get the doctor out of trouble rather than the doctors sonic. In the 'classic' series we saw the doctors sonic open doors (accept wood or deadlock seals, why the writers came up with this I don't know) sure we saw him stun a few creatures and create a few explosions but that was about it. A handy tool good for opening doors which is fine. Then the new series comes along with the sonic doing all sort's of things like sonicing a phone so you can get in touch with the doctor. The first few series' weren't too bad with overuse on the sonic then series 7 comes along and it does loads of different things. It was overused WAY too much in 'the rings of Akhaten' then in 'The crimson horror' it was just silly. It got the doctor back from being part of the crimson horror to back to his normal self, clothes and all. That would never have happened in the classic series and that was just too far I think. No the doctors sonic is not being overused: It is the sonic screwdriver, one of the doctors most trusty weapons and most recognised weapon. It needs to be used a lot even if it is a deus ex machina. Final verdict: As you can see above there are much more things agreeing that the doctors sonic is being overused than disagreeing. Overall I hope that next series we don't see as much of the sonic screwdriver and more of the writers being a little more imaginative, we should only see it when the doctor wants a door opening (so long as it isn't made of wood.)

In this post I will decide whether it's a good thing all 11 doctor's aren't in the 50th or a bad thing. Good thing: If it has all eleven doctors the episode will be crowded and there would be no plot or you wouldn't focus on the plot. It may get confusing, too many plot holes and many continuity errors. Three of the doctor's have died so you will have a problem finding actors that look like them or even animating them. Some doctors may not want to participate so you would either have to spend a lot of time trying to get them to do it or having to find actors that look like them and all this would take time so it could impact the actual plot/episode. Bad thing: If all living doctors were involved it would get more viewers and make fans happier, also it could create fans of all ages as people who for instance had Tom Baker as 'their' doctor would watch and begin to watch regularly. It would help make the episode more dynamic and more of a sense of occasion and even help the plot because they don't need to be central characters just cameo roles like William Hartnell in 'The three doctors.' Final verdict: I think it would be good to have all the doctors but as above it could damage the plot, I think they should bring back some doctors for cameo roles but not all because I doubt all of them would want to do it (*ahem Christopher Eccleston.) Thanks for reading. What's your opinion? Share in the comments of this post. In this post I am going to be discussing my opinions and views on the casting of Peter Capaldi as the twelfth doctor. When I first sat down the watch 'doctor who live' I was filled with expectation. I was fearful yet exited yet curios, fearful as what if they picked an idiot, exited as I was going to find out the new doctor and curios as what if it was to be a woman doctor or a black actor (I later found out a black actor was offered the role) and I watched until finally the new doctor was announced: Peter Capldi. My first thought was who the hell is that? My next thought was whoever he is he looks like he could be a good doctor, he looks very mysterious. My next though was oh look he is Scottish, let's hope he uses his Scottish voice unlike David Tennant and my last thought was oh yeah he is that guy from 'The thick of it' he plays that guy who swears after every word he says (if you are a kid, don't look up 'The thick of it' in youtube unless you want to hear a whole lot of swearing (and I know some people worried because they think children will look up Peter Capaldi's past work.) Well now I know Peter Capaldi's past work I am still sure that he is capable of playing a good doctor, I guess we will have to wait to find out what he is going to be like. My opinion is that he probably won't stay long as he is 55 (almost the same age as William Hartnell, the oldest actor to play the doctor) but I could be wrong as at that age you don't have to worry about being typecast really. Anyway now you know my reaction to the twelfth doctor. I would love to hear your opinions on his casting so email me and share your opinions (email in top right corner) Thanks for reading! Yesterday, for the first time ever I went to the doctor who experience and in this post I will share my thoughts on the experience. Enjoy. It was amazing, you go into an area where there is kind of a trailer of the 11th doctor then the wall opens up to show the crack in time opening (the eleventh hour). You then walk through the crack and enter the 11th doctor's first TARDIS where the doctor talks to you and you pilot the TARDIS, here there are lot's of effects like smoke and the ground shakes. You then go through corridors meeting Daleks and Weeping Angels on the way. You then enter the exhibition section which is just full of doctor who props and costumes, you come face to face with most doctor who monsters and costumes worn by doctor's and companions. After here you enter the shop which is the most amazing place EVER! They have a spectacular amount of DVD's classic and new, posters, stationary, figures and figure set's and collectables. I managed to get (with my £100) : Rory figure Companions bookazine special 2nd doctor lost episodes magazine Revisitations 2 box set DVD Mannequin mania box set DVD Ace adventures box set DVD The claws of Axos (SE) DVD Battlefield DVD The curse of Fenric DVD 1 blind box Titan (11th doctor) 3 blind bag character building doctors (3rd, 8th and 9th doctors) |
