In the first episode of this story you can see they have got some very big ideas and that they are really trying to make this a good end of series. I can see this from of course the fire that they have, a great moment full of tension and it's one of the moments where you see just how fragile the doctor is and I think this scene is good at creating sympathy for the doctor. The fire looks very good, it is of course done by models but I think it would have looked brilliant back in 1964. William Hartnell's acting particularly stands out in this scene and in most of the story really. The story is really accurate and shows how horrible that era is, and it also shows how nobody really trusts each other. The set's are just brilliant in this episode, they are incredibly detailed and well made. The plot is also quite smart too, and it doesn't really get boring anywhere which 6 parters sometimes do. Overall a tense, and ambitious episode and that's what makes it so great. The only problem I really had in this episode was Susan , I though she was way too screamy, and it just got annoying after a while, but only a minor thing and doesn't ruin the episode.

I agree, susan is screamy. But, hey. All girls were back in the 60's. They made her do it on purpose to make it a little more modern. But yes, I've got the tenth planet and polly isn't that screamy. Have you reviewed the tenth planet yet?

I don't think ALL girls were screamy back then lol. I imagine Verity Lambert wasn't particularly screamy :P It said in the special features of The planet of giants that she had to be screamy to connect with the audience as she was playing like a 15 year old.

Okay. Cant wait for more reviews. I have only just started getting into the jist of doing reviews. I have a couple more on there if you want to check them out. My collection of classic dvds is dwarfed by yours. I only have 3. But I am hoping to get more I have over 100 pounds to spend on them!!! 4/1/2014 03:02:29 pm
Glad you like my reviews :) And I'm sure you will be able to get loads with £100, I remember my dad once gave me £100 to spend when I went to the doctor who experience and spent the whole lot on classics. Believe it or not I have only been collecting them since March 2013 and I already have over half the collection (must have spent thousands lol) I would recommend starting off getting the revisitations box sets as they are brilliant!

It is funny because one revisitations box set is worth 1 new dvd. so technically its 3 dvds for the price of one.
